Customer Service
Stein stands for customer service. At Stein, all plants have professional slag sales personnel assigned and are responsible for recycling all slag produced. Each sales representative is required to pass the applicable state aggregate certification test and be registered as a certified aggregate technician. Representatives can discuss such factors as slag angularity, absorption, specific gravity, durability, gradation and density with potential slag customers.

Solid Relationships Make the Difference
Stein has excellent relationships with state and local Transportation and Environmental agencies. Our extensive experience with slag products makes us uniquely qualified to answer questions regarding slag's performance when compared to natural aggregate products. Stein also has on-site and off-site labs to support our product quality program and compliance with project specifications.

Research into New Markets
Slag use in traditional road construction applications is both seasonal and cyclical. To counter this dynamic Stein aims to increase slag use year round by targeting new market segments. As an example of this effort we have initiated and funded research at both Ohio State University and University of Kentucky addressing slag applications to areas other than road construction.

Low Shipping Rates
The logistics and cost of transporting slag can be problematic. To ease these difficulties we have built strategic relationships with transporters to permit us to ship via truck, rail, barge, and boat. As a result, our customers receive their slag products via a "one-stop-shopping" approach and within the agreed upon delivery schedule. Our shipping rates are often lower than the rates our customers can secure due to our volume-based relationships with shippers.
